Senegal Academy Scouting Mission

Following their foray to the Far East, Beswicks Sports turned their attention the Africa, with a fact-finding trip to Senegal, where Gary Mellor watched nine games in a two day period in Dakar.

Beswicks client Salif Diao who is a national hero in Senegal has an Academy with bases in Dakar, St Louis. Rufisque and Kedougou.

Players travelled for as long as 14 hours by road to play in games in Dakar, hoping to earn a trial with an International club.

Gary Mellor explained, “The standard was incredibly high and it is the dream of all these young Senegalese players to follow the example of Salif, who played for Monaco and Liverpool before moving to Stoke City.”

“Salif had the honour of representing Senegal in the 2002 World Cup and feels many of these players will achieve the same dizzy heights.”

The trip was hosted by Mamadou Diallo the former MLS all star who played for Senegal 46 times scoring 21 goals and Mamadou Tandian the Supernovasport chief administrator.
